Carrilho&Cafareli Associate Lawyers began in the early 1960s, in the capital of Parana, with lawyer Eros Carrilho acting in the civil, commercial and tax areas.
In the early 1970s, Brazil was in the process of modernization and the legal environment became more complex, with the arrival of many foreign companies. The Firm, under the leadership of senior partners Eros Carrilho and Rubens Cafareli, was strongly involved in this whole process. It expanded its range of activities in the field of international law. It brokered and coordinated the implementation of most of those companies in the metropolitan region of Curitiba. One of the Office’s main works in this period was the establishment of CIC Industrial City of Curitiba S/A. The new company emerged from the branching of the Urbanization Company of Curitiba, a fact that also led to the foundation of the current URBS - Urbanization of Curitiba S/A.

At the turn of the 1980s, government policies have led to credit shortages to businesses. That adverse scenario revealed the Firm’s expertise for structuring transactions and providing legal advice on executions of economic-financial corporate feasibility, including effective strategies to obtain the few official resources available.

Since the 1990s, the Firm’s experience has intensified, by advising business leaders in situations including but not limited to the purchasing and selling of companies, technology transfer, product distribution, licensing of trademarks and patents, among others, and operating in several countries.

Similarly, in Brazil, the Firm excelled in the advisory and tax litigation with significant operations in Judicial and Administrative Courts of the country.
